Frequently asked questions

Why will Cisco phones have limited functionality on April 7th, 2024?

This is due to a combination of expiring security certificates and the end-of-support/life announcement from Cisco.

Cisco has announced end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for Cisco SPA 303 and other series model phones. The announcements state that support services for select devices will become unavailable in the first quarter of 2024.

Important: These Cisco phone models will have limited functionality on April 7th, 2024, when their security certificates expire.

What should I do?

Customers should make plans to migrate from impacted Cisco phones to prevent business disruption.

How do I move my existing number to my new phone?

Review Swapping device with another phone on your account to learn how to swap your deskphone without changing its assigned number.

Can I use a phone that isn’t on the replacement recommendation list?

The device can be registered as a BYOD phone by following the instructions for SIP manual provisioning.

What happens to my device after the security certificate expires?

Phones registered prior to the security certificate expiration will keep their connection. Any changes to the device configuration will not be successful.  The phone will continue to work with the existing configuration.  When the phone Server sends the request to update the device configuration it will not get an updated configuration but will continue to make and receive calls.  Supported phone features will continue to work.
